Questions and Answers:
(actual questions submitted by our customers)
Q.  I do not understand the difference between a regular street sign and an extruded sign.
A.  Our Flat Sign Blanks have a 3/8" radius curve on all four corners. They are less expensive and can be hung directly on the wall, or mounted using any of our sign mounting hardware. Our Extruded Sign Blanks have a thicker edge on the top and bottom. They are more expensive and more ridged (hard to bend). The edges (left and right) are not painted. Both styles are very popular.
Q.  What's an eProof?
A.  We do eProofs (or samples) of all of our Street Name Signs so that our customers will know what they are getting. When you place your Street Name Sign order, make sure that you request an eProof.  When your order is received by Sign Avenue we use our best graphic judgment in putting together a sample of the Street Name Sign/Signs that you've just ordered.  The eProof will be E-mailed to you in a Gif or Jpeg format.  If the first generation eProof is not what you expected, we encourage you to request changes. So, in other words, we like happy customers. We don't want you to pay for your street sign until you're happy with what it's going to look like.   Processing for eProofs takes just 48 hours.
Q.  Do the letters reflect light so if they need an ambulance in the middle of the night the name will show? That is the purpose of the sign and it is very dark here at night
A.  Our sign blanks have an engineer grade reflective green finish on both sides. The white vinyl lettering that we use is not actually reflective; but the entire sign can be seen very well at night, and appears reflective.
Q.  How long would my street sign it take and what would it cost? Do you accept checks and/or money orders? Lastly, do you make street signs w/ white letters & a blue background? Thanks, your signs look the best of all I've seen so far!
A.   We can do white on blue but it would take a few days longer. Normally our street signs take 10 to ship out via UPS once your payment has been received (for personal checks add an additional 4 days). I recommend that you go to our Shopping Cart System to get your total cost, and see our terms of sale. You can order the Wing Bracket there too. Make sure to give is information about how you'd like your final sign to look in the Comments section, and we'll send you a final eProof.
Q.   What size would I need for my street name? I'm thinking 30" x 6", but if it can fit on the smaller 24" x 6" that would be better, since I don't have a million dollars!
A.  We carry vary the letter sizes to fit as many as many as 18 letters and spaces on a 36" x 6" sign.  A general rule of thumb is that the 24" x 6" sign will fit up to 10-11 letters and spaces, the 30" x 6" sign will fit up to 12-13 letters, and like I said earlier we can fit up to 18 letters and spaces on the 36" x 6" sign, but the letters will be smaller. If all else fails; take your best shot - we'll design your sign for you and send you an eProof for your approval.
Q.   I live out in the country on a lake and the roads need signs and directional arrows. I would like to know if these signs can be used for street identification and for directions? Can you put arrows on the signs to give directions and will the signs hold up under adverse weather conditions?
A.  Thanks for your inquiry. See this .GIF file (thumbnail) lake_road.gif (4109 bytes). We could something like that. And for your information; our Street Sign aluminum blanks are better than the real thing. Theft and getting run over by vehicles are usually the only predators. Plus we use Premium Vinyl, rated at 5 years (outdoor durability).
Q.  Just got the custom warning sign a little while ago and it's FANTASTIC!  I love it!  I meant to ask, what size of screws should I use for putting this sign on a wall?
A.  Thanks for your inquiry.  If you where mounting your Custom Warning Sign on a round Pipe Post using a Pipe Post Bracket you would use the 1/4" hex bolts that are provided with the bracket.  These would be obvious overkill for affixing a Warning Sign on to the wall of inside your home.  I typically recommend using two 1/8" silver screws (deck type) of sufficient length to hit a stud; or use plastic mollies if there is no stud.  Then you'll most likely want some 5/8" washers (big enough to cover the pre-drilled holes).  If you come up with a better idea, please let us know.  Thanks!
